Board of Director Responsibilities & Annual Elections

 

What are the responsibilities of a board member?

• Actively prepare and participate in board meetings and email communications. 
• Attend Heart of America league board meetings, as needed. These are required for the 3 voting LPWBOD league representatives.
• Actively prepare and participate in organizational events.
• Participate in sub-committees, as needed.
• Accept and accomplish assigned responsibilities required to operate the organization.
• To be knowledgeable about, represent, and promote the organization.
• Develop, implement, and update annual and long‐range plans.
• Establish and support organizational, operational and financial policies.
• Control and monitor finances and revenue‐generating processes.

 

What is the structure of the board?

• Board members work together under the direction of the President to carry out the responsibilities of operating the organization. 
• The BOD is made up of eight members.
• Three of the LPWBOD members are also appointed as Heart of America Board of Director voting members.
• The BOD is comprised of the following positions: President, Vice President - Football, Vice President - Cheer, Secretary, Treasurer, HOA Representative, Equipment Director, Team Coordinator/Little Scholars.

 

How are LPWBOD members elected and when?

• Existing board members elect candidates from the list of qualified applicants. 

 

What are the terms of appointment?

• Board members serve a two-year term. To ensure continuity, board members' terms are staggered so that approximately half of the membership may rotate in any given year.

  • Positions elected in odd years:

    • President

    • Treasurer

    • Secretary

    • Equipment Director

  • Positions elected in even years:

    • Vice President - Football

    • Vice President - Cheer

    • Team Coordinator/Little Scholars Coordinator

    • HOA Representative
